Peekaboos, Beading, Shorts Suits and More: Spring ’13 Trends

Temperatures are beginning to (slowly) rise, and we’re already taking notice of Spring 2013′s biggest trends everywhere we look. Stripes and ensembles in black and white are prominent favorites, but we’re also spotting a lot of sexy cutouts and peekaboo pieces, shorts suits, beading and a revival of the lady tuxedo. Below are some of our favorite pieces from the Spring 2013 collection.

cutouts

Cutouts are the perfect subtle way to show skin this Spring. They were seen in many collections during New York Fashion Week and Pamella’s take on them includes flirty peekaboo pieces below the ribs that draw attention to the waist and crinoline/grosgrain insets that play with the idea of a bare back.

shortssuits

Pamella loves a good suit and is always thinking of ways to incorporate them into her collections. The idea of a shorts suit for the warmer months is perfect amounts chic and playful and makes a great day-to-night ensemble.

beading

There are few things as pretty as delicate beading. From full maco-beading to dainty sparkles on a collar or on buttons, hand-beading makes any top, gown or coat that much more glamorous.

lady tux

A lady tux is more a timeless classic than a trend. A nod to Yves Saint Laurent’s Le Smoking, this tux includes a skinny pant and a crisp white lapel — perfect for Spring, but classic enough for seasons to come.

CFDA and eBay: You Can’t Fake Fashion

The Council of Fashion Designers of America and eBay are in their third year raising awareness against counterfeit goods and celebrating original design within the fashion industry through the You Can’t Fake Fashion initiative. This year’s designers, including pamella roland, submitted tote bags in one-of-a-kind designs that are being auctioned exclusively on eBay to benefit the CFDA Foundation.

A few words about the program from the CFDA’s Chief Executive Officer, Steven Kolb:

“Since 2011, CFDA has partnered with eBay to advance the You Can’t Fake Fashion initiative. Educating shoppers about the dangers of counterfeits is now more important than ever, and it’s an issue that’s incredibly important to both eBay and CFDA. With 90 designers on board this year, each customizing a bag as one-of-a-kind to show their support, eBay and CFDA are dedicated to protecting original design and the integrity of the fashion industry.”

San Francisco Chronicle: Stripes for Spring

The San Francisco Chronicle recently covered one of Spring’s biggest trends: black and white stripes. It’s no secret Pamella loves black and white. The Spring 2013 collection, inspired by painter, sculptor and print maker Ellsworth Kelly, is full of the bold contrast in stripes and graphic prints reminiscent of his work. The Chronicle featured one of those pieces — the hand-painted silk shantung sheath, a personal favorite of Pamella’s.
